How to style a suit

There's more to suits than you think.

How do you wear your suit? Depending on where you’re heading and what you’re up to, one suit can go a long way if you let it. It’s all about injecting some personality through accessories, cuts, fabrics and colours, and playing around with what you wear underneath your suit. Read on to see two distinct ways you can style your two or three-piece.

Formal

Somtimes, the occasion calls for a good old fashioned suit-and-tie affair. A navy suit is all well and good, but an Italian navy suit, crafted from fabric from the world’s oldest wool mill? That’s a true step up. Wool is also great for year-round wear - breathable in the summer, and warm in the winter, it’ll have you feeling comfortable whether you’re heading to work or a wedding.

With a suit as premium as this, keep it as minimal as possible and let the fit do the talking - a white, cotton-rich stretch shirt buttoned to the top, and a Bottinelli tie, crafted from the finest Italian silk. Add a contrasting pocket square to finish things off. Top tip: make sure the cuff of your shirt peeks out from beneath your suit sleeve - it’s a sign of a good fit.

Casual

The versatility of a suit means you can wear it in a variety of casual ways, too. If a shirt and tie is a little bit too formal for your liking (or for the event you’re heading to), swap them out for a knit like a skipper or mock neck. You’ll still look put together and your outfit cohesive, but it’ll feel just that little bit more relaxed.

As for the suit, the world is your oyster - to truly lean into the laid-back vibe, go for a relaxed fit suit, like our brown flannel. It’ll add a contemporary touch to your look, and is roomy enough to keep you comfortable for most of the day. Alternatively, keep things elevated with a neutral toned number, like our sand herringbone. It’s crafted from a wool-silk-linen blend in a classic tailored fit, the linen adding an extra level of breathability while the silk giving the fabric a soft handfeel and a cleaner finish. It'll look just as good at a wedding as it will at a summer barbecue.
