Workwear for where you work: winter edition
Your new-season refresher on weekday wardrobes for all kinds of workplaces.
Words: C. Saramowicz
The world of workwear has shifted over the last few years. Though the suit is still going strong in many industries, relaxed styles are dominating more casual work environments, indicating a shift in attitudes and a growing demand for more smart-casual options.
Looking put together in the workplace can make all the difference. Regardless of how you spend your weekdays, it's time to throw out those old joggers and invest in quality pieces that will see you through the season and beyond. And, as winter fast approaches, now is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Corporate
A suit is an obvious choice for a corporate environment, but sometimes the occasion calls for something a bit more casual. If you still want to feel put together without the need of a shirt and tie, a lightweight knit crafted from merino is a good option. It's got a super soft handfeel and will feel great to wear. Layer yours with a gilet if your office is a bit chilly, and combine with a matching pair of flannel trousers to keep you extra toasty. As for footwear, maintain the smart casual vibe with a chunky loafer for a modern take.

Agency
Agencies are usually a bit more relaxed when it comes to dress codes, but it's still worth making an effort if you're heading to the office or meeting clients. Neutral or tonal looks will go a long way - a pair of brown moleskin trousers, for example, will keep you warm and add a bit of difference to your daily line up.
Winter is all about texture, and there's plenty of ways to incorporate it into your work attire. Merino, boucle and wool are all great options - layer them up for extra impact.

Work from home
Working from your sofa may still be part of your weekly routine, but that doesn't mean joggers need to be the uniform. You may want to work from a cafe or a co-working space if you need a chance of scene, which means comfort should be combined with an easy to style, versatile look you can wear to the pub or to see friends after your shift.
For the winter months, flannel trousers are a no brainer. Crafted from 100% wool, they'll keep you warm at home or in drafty cafe, and with a super soft handfeel, comfort is a given.
As for your top half, layering is the way to go. Start off with a plain, cotton rich white tee as a versatile base, then layer up with knitwear to your heart's content. A cardigan, rich in alpaca and merino, will feel luxurious to wear and can easily be removed if you feel too warm.
